How to install electric windproof roller Shades?
Electric windproof roller shades are game-changers for windy balconies, high windows, and storm-prone areas. Unlike standard blinds, they lock out drafts, resist swaying, and automate comfort. But improper installation can compromise their wind resistance. This guide reveals professional techniques to install them flawlessly—no hired experts needed!
Tools You’ll Need
(Avoid last-minute runs!)
-
Electric drill & masonry bits (for concrete/brick)
-
Level laser or 24-inch spirit level
-
Measuring tape, pencil, masking tape
-
Screwdriver set (Phillips + flathead)
-
Emlux windproof mounting brackets (included)
-
Wire strippers/crimpers (for hardwired models)
-
Optional but recommended: Stud finder, voltage tester

Pre-Installation: 3 Critical Checks ✅
-
Window Measurements
-
Measure exact width (A) and height (B) of the window recess.
-
Shades should be 1-2 cm narrower than recess to prevent wind friction.
Pro Tip: For high wind zones, add 5 cm on each side for bracket reinforcement.
-
-
Power Source Decision
-
Battery-operated: Easier, ideal for retrofits. Replace batteries yearly.
-
Hardwired: Cleaner look, continuous power. Requires AC wiring access.
-
-
Wind Load Rating
-
Confirm your shades’ max wind speed rating (e.g., 60 mph).
-
Reinforce brackets if installing in hurricane-prone areas.
-
Step-by-Step Installation
(Works for Emlux, Dooya,A-OK, and other major brands)
Step 1: Bracket Positioning
-
Unpack the package, take out the Emlux windproof roller shutter product, which is wrapped with bubble film inside to prevent the aluminum material of the Aluminum Alloy Windproof Blinds from being bumped and worn. Take out the accessory package.
-
The side rails are also wrapped with bubble film to prevent scratches on the aluminum surface. Remove the screws on the lower air outlet of the side rails
-
separate the combined side rails, and take out the rubber strips. Take out the rear variable rail, select the installation method according to the installation position, and draw the installation position
-
Drill a hole on the rear variable rail, remove the screws on the upper cover, open the built-in motor of the cover, connect the 220-volt power supply, lower the fabric 20 centimeters
-
take out the guide groove on the side rail, look at the direction, insert the plug-ins on the left and right sides, clamp the fabric in the groove, and tighten the top screws.
-
Take out the rear variable rail, insert the top screws on both sides of the end plate plug-in, and tighten it.Two people simultaneously put the windproof roller blind body on the installation position and fix it with screws.
-
Before that, be sure to use a spirit level to level it, install the side rails vertically, and install the mirror horizontally. Measure the upper and lower dimensions again to see if they are consistent. Adjust the dimensions before continuing the installation.
Step 3: Mount the Emlux Intelligent Windproof Roller Blinds
-
Turn on the temporary power supply, put on the zipper slides on the left and right, and put them into the corresponding slots of the side rails.
-
Thold the zipper slide to prevent it from running out of the slot. Observe whether the tightness of the fabric on both sides is consistent
-
Divide the fabric evenly and measure the size in the middle of the fabric to see if it is accurate. Measure the size below the fabric to see if it is consistent with the size in the middle.
Step 4: Install
-
After confirming that it is correct, proceed to the next step. Close the buckle cover on the upper track changer, be careful not to get stuck on the zipper slide. You can use the travel stick to push it in
-
Do the same on both sides. The side rails are designed with a snap-on design. Just use a rubber hammer to tighten it
Step 5: Motor Pairing & Calibration
-
Do not use sharp objects to hit it to avoid scratches and potholes on the surface. Do not walk away when the remote control is running, and always observe the changes in the fabric.
-
Use your hands to feel the tightness of the fabric around to make sure it is moderate. Place the fabric at the bottom and tighten the screws on both sides of the cover.
Run it up and down twice to ensure smooth operation without pause.Fix the upper cover after it runs correctly. The upper cover adopts a modular design, which is easy to disassemble and repair later.
It can be fixed with screws. The windproof roller blind is installed.

Troubleshooting Windproof Performance
| Issue | Fix |
|---|---|
| Side light gaps | Adjust bracket depth + add side channels |
| Bottom rail sway | Tighten wind bar or add weights |
| Motor stalling | Check voltage (min. 12V required) |
| Fabric flapping | Reduce roller tension + clean tracks |
