EMLUX Tubular Motor

EMLUX's tubular roller shutter motor is a drive device designed to be installed inside the roller shutter tube. It is the core power source for products such as electric roller shutters, electric ceiling blinds, and projection screens. Its cylindrical, tube-like shape gives it the name "tubular motor."

I. Key Features
Built-in Concealed Installation: The motor is completely concealed within the roller shutter tube, resulting in a simple and aesthetically pleasing appearance without taking up additional space.


High Integration: The motor, reduction gear, circuit board, overload and overheat protection devices, and other components are typically integrated into a compact cylindrical housing.


Various Drive Options:

Tubular Motor + Roller Shutter + Fabric: Directly drives the roller shutter tube to retract and unretract fabric.

Tubular Motor + Belt/Wire: The motor rotates to retract and unretract a belt or wire, driving tracked blinds or large ceiling blinds.

II. Core Working Principle
Signal Reception: The motor receives control signals from a remote control, wall switch, or smart host via a receiver (RF or IR).

Motor Start: The control circuit board drives the core brushless DC motor or AC motor.

Power Transmission and Reduction: The high motor speed is significantly reduced by a planetary gear reduction mechanism, increasing the output torque to provide sufficient power to raise and lower heavy curtains.

Roller Drive: The reduced power is output to the square (or circular) output shafts at each end of the motor. These output shafts are directly connected to the roller tube, driving the roller tube in forward or reverse rotation, thereby raising and lowering the curtain.

Limit Stop: When the curtain reaches the pre-set top or bottom position, the built-in limit switches cut power, stopping the motor.

III. Key Technical Parameters and Selection Points
When selecting a tubular motor for roller blinds, consider the following key parameters:

Tube Diameter and Length:

Common tube diameters include: 25mm, 35mm, 39mm, and 45mm.

The length should be selected based on the actual width of the roller blind (i.e., the length of the roller tube). Various specifications are available, such as 340mm, 420mm, 550mm, and 800mm.

Make sure the motor fits snugly within your roller tube.

Torque: Typically measured in Newton-meters (N·m). This is the most important parameter, determining the weight and size of the curtain the motor can drive.

Torque selection = Curtain weight (kg) x Roller tube radius (m) x Safety factor (usually 1.5 - 2).

The heavier the fabric and the larger the surface area, the greater the torque required. Low-torque motors (e.g., 10 Nm) are used for small roller blinds, while high-torque motors (e.g., 50 Nm and above) are used for large ceiling curtains or heavy fabrics.

Power Supply Type:

AC Motor: Commonly uses 220V/110V voltage, boasts high power and relatively low cost, but is slightly noisier.

DC Motor: Commonly uses 24V/12V safe voltage, offers smoother and quieter operation, and generally supports more
intelligent control features, but is more expensive.

Limiting Method:

Mechanical Limits: Adjust the limit position using a physical knob. The accuracy is average, but the motor is stable and reliable.

Electronic Limits (Encoder Limits): Set through a program, offer high accuracy and easy adjustment (often set using the remote control learning and pairing method), and are the mainstream today.

Control Frequency and Pairing:

Confirm the motor's RF frequency (e.g., 433MHz, 2.4GHz) to ensure remote control pairing.

Determine whether the pairing method is simple (usually button-based).

Smart Compatibility: If you need to integrate into a smart home system, confirm that the motor supports Wi-Fi, Zigbee, or Bluetooth protocols and is compatible with your preferred smart platform (such as MATTER or HomeKit).
